The EOBLINDING project (Tracking and Degrading Operation and Performance of Earth Observation Satellites)

An advanced technological initiative funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF 2025). XYSensing, as a Polish partner in this prestigious consortium, participates in the development of innovative solutions aimed at protecting the interests of the European Union and its armed forces from unwanted observation from space.

About the Project

The main objective of the EOBLINDING project is to provide operators with an integrated, user-centric system that combines monitoring, reconnaissance, and counteraction functions to degrade or block the performance of Earth Observation (EO) satellites.

This initiative is a response to growing challenges in the space domain and the need to ensure operational security in designated areas. The system will support European technological sovereignty by developing capabilities to neutralize threats related to satellite reconnaissance conducted by adversaries.

Key Operational Capabilities of the System

The solutions developed within the EOBLINDING project will provide comprehensive support for space and ground security:

  • Real-time monitoring: Continuous tracking of observation satellite activity to detect potential threats.

  • Signals Intelligence (SIGINT): Interception and analysis of signals emitted by satellite systems.

  • Radio Frequency (RF) Interference: Active measures aimed at degrading or completely blocking the data transmission capabilities and functionality of satellite sensors.

  • Integrated Counteraction: The ability to select optimal protection methods based on the nature of the detected threat and the specifics of the protected area.

Basic Project Information

The EOBLINDING project is implemented under the European Defence Fund (EDF 2025) program in the area of development actions dedicated to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME). The undertaking is planned for a period of 30 months and covers key stages of the defense product life cycle: feasibility studies, design, system prototype construction, and testing.
